👉 Cyber security is largely a people problem. It’s not a secret. With social engineering attacks and human error accounting for over 90% of breaches, technical solutions will never solve all problems with human behaviour. We need people solutions. 😁 That is why I have been relentlessly focused on building a security awareness program that puts people, culture, and behavioural science at the heart of the solution for the last six years. My superpowers are empathy, communication, and a drive for change to stay current with the latest research into security awareness. I actively seek feedback from people within my organisation to see how security awareness could be improved from their perspective. I strive to understand what’s working well and what they feel could be better. Completing an MSc and writing my thesis, "Creating a Culture of Cybersecurity using Human Factors and Psychology,” required a deep understanding of the human issues in security. This education has equipped me with the knowledge and ability to utilise psychology and behavioural science to craft a program that targets the root causes of unwanted behaviours in a positive setting.I am driven to contribute value and enjoy the freedom that being trusted in my work provides. Allowing time for research and creativity greatly enhances the effectiveness of a security awareness program. Managing others has been particularly enjoyable and something that comes naturally to me.
