I am a partner at Fredrikson & Byron PA, a full-service regional firm, with over 300 attorneys, offices in Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and North Dakota, and attorneys who are licensed throughout the Midwest and beyond.Within my construction practice, I represent commercial and residential general contractors/builders, architects, engineers, construction managers, subcontractors, material suppliers, and private and public owners. I handle both business and litigation work for these clients, including work in the following areas: construction arbitration and litigation, land development, contract drafting/negotiation, mechanic's liens, public improvement/Chapter 573 claims, OSHA claims, breach of contract claims, defense of negligent design and/or construction claims, change order disputes, warranty disputes, risk management, insurance matters, and acting as general counsel throughout my clients' projects. Within my real estate and landlord practice, I represent residential landlords (including owners of manufactured housing communities/mobile home parks, apartment complexes, and single-family homes), commercial landlords and tenants, property managers, homeowner associations, developers, and other real estate buyers and sellers. I assist such clients with their business, contractual, and litigation/dispute-related needs. I also have a niche in affordable housing and represent dozens of manufactured home community owner-operators throughout Iowa and the country. Within my litigation practice, I handle various types of matters including construction and real estate litigation, insurance defense and professional liability defense litigation, contract/commercial litigation, collection matters, and appeals.I am an active member of multiple construction associations (including HBA of Iowa, HBA of Greater Des Moines, and Master Builders of Iowa) and landlord associations. I pride myself in doing my part to educate construction industry members and landlords throughout the state in my various speaking engagements and blogs/articles each year.
