As the AD, Operations at the MIT TLO, I oversee all human resources (HR), information technology (IT), facilities & vendor management, data management & metrics, sponsor/funding compliance, and general business operations activities.Since joining the TLO, I have focused on improving our HR functions, including hiring/recruiting and retention strategies, role development, job reclassification and promotions, as well as collaborating with central MIT to conduct equity and market reviews of TLO salaries to make needed adjustments in all areas of the office. As a result of these efforts, we secured salary increases for nearly 60% of TLO staff in FY23, and increased hiring ranges for several roles to improve our competitiveness in the hiring market. We have also seen a decrease in annual staff turnover.I am part of a core team leading the development of a new database system and transition plan for the TLO. I lead operational procedure & process development and improvement activities. Finally, as part of the Senior Management Team for the TLO, I enjoy strategic planning and the development of initiatives to move the TLO forward in the coming years to achieve new levels of excellence in academic technology transfer.

As the Assistant Director of Operations at U-M Tech Transfer, I led the team managing federal compliance obligations under Bayh-Dole, compliance matters associated with non-federal funding agreements, licensee and agreement compliance, as well as administrative activities related to the processing of invention reporting, docketing and patent portfolio administration. I also managed business process development & implementation efforts, database management and data/metrics reporting. This included the development of internal workflows to increase accountability, streamline due diligence workflows, and simplify data management.
