As the Design Principal leading the design practice for the Life Sciences, Oncology, and Imaging pillars of IBM Watson Health. Managing teams of teams of product, research, user experience, and content practitioners. Focused on creating exceptional scalable experiences. Ensuring users are a part of the product strategy. I am a champion for alignment across diverse teams, committed to execution and accountability, and always seeking opportunities to improve.

Leading Design for the Talent Acquisition & Learning portfolio within IBM Smarter Workforce. Led the User-Experience team to drive Responsive design to the Talent Acquisition product. Introduced a cross-functional team to IBM Design Thinking with successful alignment from project inception to delivery. Crafted a multi-tiered sponsor user program, providing the team with direct access to users and stakeholders.

Developing the career path for Designers at IBM. Answering the question: What does it mean to be a designer at IBM for 40+ years and how do you keep growing and deepening your expertise. Initially ran the College Internship Program for designers at IBM. Heavily involved in the recruiting effort, hiring designers in the discipline of User Experience Design, Visual Design, User Research and Front-End Developers.

As a User Experience Director at IBM Interactive, I consulted with over 30 different Enterprise customers and led teams to define the actual problem they were coming to us for and then we simply tried to solve it. The hard part was defining the problem (and convincing them) while illuminating the value of solving with an eye towards the people who use it. I also co-created an offering that was sold as a way to fail early, learn faster and roadmap a vision in an actionable way.

AWI brought the internet to Aquidneck Island. We brought people the internet. Not a bulletin board service but the whole enchilada. I worked with local businesses and the Newport Chamber of Commerce to educate local businesses about the value of website marketing. I built primary websites and taught business to maintain...clearly not very business savvy.. I taught them how to fish rather than be dependent on my services. But wow what a time. It was like a second education.
