About Jody Chapel

Jody Chapel is a former art educator at East High School in Denver, Colorado where she started the CTE (Career and Technical Education) Digital Arts & Media program. She has taught graphic design, digital photography, multimedia, AP Studio Art with a digital concentration, and traditional fine art. In addition to teaching high school students, she leads professional development workshops and presentations designed to help teachers use (and love) technology in art classrooms. As an artist she loves to explore the place where paint and pixels meet. Her next chapter includes working with young people to develop the skills to become part of the creative economy.Chapel’s path led to teaching after a career in graphic and digital design in which she owned her own design firm specializing in publishing. She then went on to work in the crazy new world of the Internet. She has a degree in advertising design, and a BFA and MA in studio art. With one foot in the traditional art world and one in the digital realm, Chapel enjoys breaking down boundaries between the two and inspires her students to create whatever they can imagine. As both an art teacher and a Career and Technical Education teaching specialist, she enjoys encouraging the development of creativity and the use of the right tools to bring artistic visions to life.
