Assistant Coordinator
Act as team leader in the program. Coach and mentor the CIP support staff and the participating community ECE. Share knowledge and resources with colleagues, participating ECE’s and parents. Work in partnership with families and professionals involved with the family. Contact families/referring professionals for additional information when needed. Recognize the parent/family as a valuable team member through daily sharing of information both verbal and written. Support families in decision making regarding their children. Communicate with ECEs observing the CIP program. Work cooperatively with staff in the hosting facility. Prepare and attend orientation night for new CIP families. Prepare children’s site file/binder and ensure confidential storage throughout. Lead in the design, implementation and evaluation of both group and individual child programs in CIP. Implement program recommendations, as suggested by members of the multidisciplinary team. Adapt/develop materials or equipment to allow for the inclusion of children. Demonstrate appropriate teaching techniques, striving for continuous quality services delivery outcomes. Complete goal setting and strategies reports. Arrange and complete transitional visits for the children, into their child care programs. Present aprofessional image at all times on behalf of the Partners committee and the agency they represent. Comply with policies and procedures of Community Living North Halton and practices within CIP. Comply with relevant legislations such as the Child and Family Service ACT, Personal Health Information and Protection Act, and the College of ECEs. Ensure compliance with the specific requirements of Section 28 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act as well as any further health and safetyresponsibilities as outlined in agency policy and procedure documents.
Support Facilitator
Communicate and collaborate closely with classroom Educators, Child Care Centre Supervisors and other Professionals working with the child/children in the implementation of programs to successfully include children with differing abilities into the classroom setting. Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with co-workers, parents, support workers and community service providers working with children in a team environment. Support the implementation of new approaches and strategies related to a child or children with differing abilities through short term classroom assistance. Build the capacity of the Educators in the classroom by providing coaching and role modeling of specific inclusion strategies as determined by the Resource Consultant with the aim of independence. Support Educators and children by utilizing a variety of teaching techniques including modeling active listening, observing, questions, demonstrating and supporting. Work with classroom Educators to record and implement programs and goals, and assist in the determination of modifications and accommodations to help the child succeed. Be culturally sensitive and endeavor to remove all barriers which prevent acceptance and accessibility for all children within the classroom. Create and maintain an environment that protects the confidentiality, health, security and well-being of all children and staff, reporting issues to the Coordinator as required. Perform other duties as assigned by the Coordinator.
