Jody Dixon is the Assistant Director of International Education and Global Initiatives at the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU). Prior to working at AASCU, she recruited and advised prospective graduate students for the School of Education at the American University (Washington, DC). Dixon, a native Jamaican, received her MA, International Training and Education from American University and holds a B.Sc., Geography from the University of the West Indies, Mona (Jamaica).Prior to relocating to the United States, Dixon resided in Japan for five years working as a TESOL-certified Assistant Language Teacher and teacher trainer on the Japan Exchange and Teaching Program (JET).She is an experienced intercultural facilitator and project manager, proficient in developing and facilitating professional development and education abroad experiences for students, faculty, administrators, and executives. At AASCU, several of the programs she manages include the Japan Studies Institute, the China-US Rising Star Student Study Tour, and the Senior International Officer Institute.An active member in her communities, Jody has served as the Social and Volunteer Events Chair and subsequently Vice President of the JET Alumni Association of Washington, DC. Her recent activities include serving as the co-chair of an alumni board at the American University, serving the Japanese Embassy in the United States as a JET application reviewer and interviewer, and is a college readiness mentor in Baltimore through the iMentor Baltimore program.In June 2022, Jody was appointed as an ex-officio board member of the Consortium for North American Higher Education Collaboration (CONAHEC).She is interested in opportunities that will utilize the skills she has honed, the networks and relationships she has cultivated, but also those that will expand her level of domestic and global engagement and overall professional repertoire.
