During implementation of Vital & training of operators at Shell Upstream, saved annual loss of royalties of $2.6 million for gas wells and recovered $6.2 million in condensate shipments. Worked with Fuji Japan on a strategy to integrate PLCs and VFDs for oil solution.Converted plunger lift gas wells using charts to Smart-Aleks resulting in savings of $495K annually for Delphi Energy.

Staff Field Optimization SpecialistEnerplus Resources Fund Jun 1999 - Dec 2007Responsible for field automation and optimization strategy for wells, facilities, compressors and integration of systems for Enerplus Operations. As a result transformed a company with no field technology to a company ahead of its peers in 3 years. The area of responsibility covered about 60 fields from NE British Columbia to the Sleeping Giant field in Montana.• Completed the automated Down-hole Well Tests to replace conventional well testing in November 2007 which was approved by the ERCB. Published the paper on this in the Middle East Artificial Lift Forum. Presented the concepts to the Russian delegation from TETNAF company. This methodology used with a portable tester and Net-Oil-Analyzer eliminates the building of satellites(testing facilities) in large conventional oil fields. This was implemented in Joarcam Field resulting in savings of $1.5M. The lease cost and maintenance resulted in $250K annual savings.• Field Technology initiative resulted in implementation of 465 Smart-Aleks and 500 SAM units in both Canada & USA.Successfully automated the Sleeping Giant field in Montana and 10 oil fields in Canada using Lufkin’s SAM controllers and Combo units (VFD-SAMs). The Combo units put wells in "cruise control", i.e. automatically speeding up or slowing down based on calculated bottom-hole pressure.• In the first 2 years of automation $6M in gains were realized with the expenditure of $3M, 100% return on investment.Created a system - Viewpoint which integrated information – production, reserves, financial, geology, facilities & assets and real-time information with a map front-end. • All of the above required working with Operators, Foremen and Superintendents in every field and also working with engineers of all disciplines, marketing and accountants, management and executives in the Head Office. Responsible for implementation and managing of Fieldview System in 60 Field Sites and Calgary Head Office.

Project ManagerGulf Canada Resources Oct 1994 - May 1999Responsible for integration of applications and implementation of Merak's Field Desk Tools throughout the company and 46 Field Sites, including Gulf Indonesia in Ramba field. The role included an architecture for software implementation and training of Production Engineers, Foremen, Team Leaders and Operators. Member of optimization team for optimization of oil & gas production. Completed field automation of a number of oil and gas fields.Implemented inferred production to replace manual well tests at South Westerose Field using the Nabla POCs. Project was successful and verbally approved by the EUB. The plan was to reduce manual well testing and test facilities.Successfully implemented an R&D technology for pump-jacks, i.e.putting wells on "cruise-control". This resulted in 5 - 15% increment of oil production at S. Westerose Field.Successfully implemented electronic well files using Peloton's Wellview system. Supervised the input of well files into system.Worked on foreign assignment at Gulf Indonesia in Jakarta and Ramba Field in South Sumatra. Successfully implemented Fieldview, completed all training and integrated production information into other company systems. Trained more than 140 Gulf personnel in Field Desk Tools - Map, Field Data Management (FDM), FDGraph, Transport Manager, Selector, and Wellview. Worked with Trout/Senex/Panny Project Team on re-entry wells for horizontal drilling. Using diagnostics to select the right wells which resulted in $1.5M in savings. Setup more accurate Daily/Weekly Production Reporting Project for the organization which included training of data technologists.

Executives, Managers and employees could easily and securely access personal, supervisory or executive information. Implemented successfully the position architecture using Dun & Bradstreet Products. Created staff planning system, restructuring system, implemented succession planning tool and a competency model for HR and the information warehouse. On special assignment - restructured consulting services and revamped Master Agreement Contract and consultant hiring practices. This reduced escalating costs of consulting services from projected $12.5M to $11M and savings on expenditure of $0.5M in the first 2 months of project. On special assignment - consolidated three manpower systems requirements eliminated duplication of training, maintenance and computer costs. On special assignment implemented a chargeout/ budget system to recover Information & Computing Department's budget of $110M. Consolidated all data from IBM Mainframes, VAX Clusters, CRAY and Manpower Tracking Systems to a central source and provided reporting of all charges to departments using computer resources or I&C manpower. This resulted in canceling $12M of additional DASD required for expansion.
