During his 15+ year career as a real estate investor and lender, Mr. Appel has developed expertise in loan origination and real estate deal structuring throughout the different real estate cycles. Before joining TREFM, Mr. Appel served as Managing Partner of Frierson & Appel Investments. As Managing Partner, Mr. Appel was part of a team responsible for underwriting, structuring and closing more than $20 million in loans. Joe also managed the acquisition, income development and disposition of properties for Frierson & Appel from 2008 to 2018, during which time Frierson & Appel Investments acquired and re-positioned more than 200 assets totaling more than $40 million. Mr. Appel attended the University of Houston. He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Nuclear Program and served as a Nuclear Electrical Operator for four years on the U.S.S. Eisenhower, a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier.
