I received my PhD in Applied Exercise Science from Queen’s University (Canada) in 2003 followed by postdoctoral studies in exercise epidemiology. Currently, I'm the Tanenbaum Chair in Sport Science, Data Modelling and Sport Analytics at the University of Toronto, Canada. I've also held positions at York University in Toronto, and visiting researcher/professor positions in the Carnegie Research Institute at Leeds Metropolitan University in the United Kingdom, Victoria University and the Australian Institute of Sport in Australia and the Institute of Sport Science at Westflische Wilhelms-Universitat Münster in Germany. My research uses models from sport to explore the influences on optimal human development, ranging from issues affecting athlete development and skill acquisition to talent identification and performance forecasting. I am the Past President of the Canadian Society for Psychomotor Learning and Sport Psychology and the author/editor of 13 books, 5 journal special issues and more than 300 peer reviewed articles, commentaries, position statements, and book chapters.Specialties: Human skill acquisition, sport performance, visual perception, talent identification and development, expertise and expert performance, aging, masters athletes
