Project ManagerGeorgiou Jan 2019 - Feb 2020Hota Green Bridge, $20MThe CCF QLD Earth Award Winning HOTA Green Bridge is a pedestrian / cycle bridge that links HOTA to Chevron Island. The 130m long four span steel girder bridge crosses the Nerang River at the same height as the Chevron West Bridge. The project was a Design and Construct Contract, between Georgiou and Brady Marine & Civil Pty Ltd. Bonacci Infrastructure carried out the structural design with the assistance of the project architects Archipeligo.Piling for the piers in Nerang River was carried out from the barge, with 8 x 900mm dia driven steel tubular piles with cast in-sit concrete plugs approximately 20m long. The cast in place piles with liners at the northern abutment were also carried out from the barge. The trapezoidal steel structure is comprised from approximately 6,000 individual components, with over 10km of welding required. All four spans were fabricated at Carole Park by Sun Engineering before being transported to the Coomera Marina, before being shipped to site on barges 25km over Gold Coast Waterway, including the Broad Water. The girders were then lifted into position by a barge mounted crawler crane in a predetermined order required to maintain the structural integrity of the landed girders. The southern abutment ramp three dimensional facade was design by internationally recognized artist Warren Langley and Jess Austin. The anodised aluminium folded form and golden hue represents the colour of the sun on the Nerang River over the past 40 million mornings, as artist Warren Langley responded to themes of water and open hands to underpin the notion of past, present and future. This complex facade and supporting framework was designed, constructed and installed by ACLAD Pty Ltd in Brisbane. -
