About Joe Bartos

I am a strategic, competitive achiever. I thrive when leading and working within challenging environments that are open to innovation. Results matter: Students rising to high expectations through high help, and athletes winning football games through coaching winning decisions, expands opportunities for each of us to be a powerfully positive influence in others' lives. Ultimately then my work should be judged upon the faces of those I teach and coach: whatever I have invested or withheld is reflected there.I am in my 17th year of teaching 4th - 6th grades (14 urban, 3 rural). Everyone in our classroom is responsible for themselves and to each other. Each of us has a voice and together we consistently more than double local and national growth rates in reading and math. In 2010 I was a finalist for Minnesota Teacher of the Year.I believe in football as a co-curricular program; fully integrated with the mission and goals of the school. It is a vehicle to help young men make winning decisions a habit throughout their lives. Unity, preparation, perfect effort, completion, courage, confidence, poise, service and empathy are the building blocks I emphasize in order for them to become their personal bests. "Do what has to be done; how it has to be done; when it has to be done; and do it that way all the time!"

  • Roseville Area Schools
Assistant Varsity Football Coach, Defensive Backs
Roseville Area Schools Aug 2010 - Apr 2015
A high energy, personable coach who models the enthusiasm and confidence we wanted our DB's to adopt... You never found us standing still on the field! We worked hard because football is fun, and we valued working out the relationship between ourselves & success within the most competitive athletic environment. We were 2013 State Semi-Finalists (AAAAAA). In 5 seasons I coached 8 team captains, 6 all-conference, 8 honorable mention, 1 team defensive MVP, and 3 team most improved players.I set the tone and style of defensive back play: confident, aggressive, poised, fundamental football. That began by demanding, through practice, our DB's be the surest tacklers in the conference. In man our DB's learned to meet, level and disrupt routes (Catch-Man Technique). We employed aggressive, pattern-read schemes within all of our zone coverages.I was responsible for assisting our defensive coordinator in developing pass coverages, secondary run fits, game plans and in-game calls. I co-cordinated the JV defense and was responsible for our punt-return/block ('13-current) and kickoff ('10-'12) units.
