Working with the Youth Development Phase my role is to enhance players ability across the 4 corners of development, especially with the transition from small sided games to the 11v11 format. Using the PMA, I am directly involved with planning and reviewing learning, consistently interacting with players to assist them in working towards their Individual Learning Plans (ILP's). In addition to this I also work with other departments within the club including medical staff, the analysis team and senior management in order to deliver a holistic programme to each player so they have the opportunity to maximize potential.

My main role within the college is the delivery across several provisions. Firstly I deliver on the BTEC programme both at Level 2 and Level 3 across the mainstream college and the Oldham Athletic Football Club scholars, this includes the planning, delivery and development of this provision, as I am responsible for developing a standardised assignment brief template for the next academic year, which will be used across the department. Secondly I will be delivering on the traineeships and apprenticeship programmes, starting in the next academic year, this allows me to work with students similarly to the way I work with players in a coaching setting as they are embarking on training towards a career, which is the same as players in an academy. Across all of these programmes I have shown I am competent in delivering both in a theoretical and practical setting, allowing the students to see how learning in the classroom is transferred into how it would be used in a career, this has been evidenced especially in the coaching and fitness based units I have been involved in In my time at Oldham College I have been given extra responsibilities in relation to the development of the frameworks that are delivered, this has included CPD events with the LFE for the academy scholars delivery and Pearson's for developments on the new exam based BTEC awards that have been released for 2016/2017 academic year. I work in a team of 9 staff in the college, where it is important to communicate effectively and share good practice, I have demonstrated this well in my time here, delivering training on new developments of courses to members of staff both on the same level as me and management. In addition to this with 100% of my students achieving this year, I have shown I can develop a rapport with students quickly, which helps when encouraging them to reach their potential.

During my time at Fleetwood Town, my main responsibility was the delivery of the NVQ to the academy scholars on a weekly basis, ensuring that they completed this as part of their scholarship programme. When I arrived the 2nd year scholars had completed very little of this so it was the priority to ensure they made it through that part of their education will all of them now complete and moving on to further education or achieving a professional contract. In addition to this I was able to gain experience coaching the under 12/13's squads within the club, where I was able to follow the developing coaching programme as the club went through the audit for category 3 status. During this experience I was able to complete my FA Youth Award in May 2016, where I worked closely with an FA tutor on a one to one basis. I was also able to work at an age group which I had not worked with before, which developed my knowledge of long term player development throughout academies as I already had experience at foundation and professional development phase at different clubs.

In this role I was the lead tutor across 2 provisions, firstly I was the tutor within Canon Slade High School, where I delivered the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport and Exercise Sciences, secondly I was the tutor of the first year scholars within Bolton Wanderers Football Club Academy. This includes preparation, delivery, assessing and assuring quality, I also had a duty to liaise with learners, parents and fellow colleagues regarding progress and feedback. I was responsible for preparing detailed course outlines for learners including seeking development and new ideas with regards to methods of delivery. Within this role it was my responsibility to communicate with external partners in order to develop and strengthen the partnership between schools and the club. The programme at Canon Slade has had 100% success rate and 3 of the learners who graduated in 2015 achieved the highest UCAS point scores of the entire 6th form. I also integrated myself within other areas of the business, including observing and assisting in some academy sessions within the youth development phase, in addition to this I assisted in the tutoring of the FA coaching qualifications where students have completed both FA Level 1 and FA Level 2 Coaching qualifications. Finally part of my role was my involvement within standardisation meetings to ensure that quality of marking and assignment briefs within the department are not only fit for purpose but continually developing, where I had contributed heavily to the design of new assignment briefs and feedback templates.

At Chester Football club my role was the under 17s Head Coach, where I worked alongside the manager during training sessions and match days. I was responsible for the planning and delivery of coaching sessions, in order to develop the players as a team and an individual basis. On a match day, my roles were to ensure player safety by taking them through a thorough warm up and also contribute to team talks throughout the match day. Finally I had to consult other coaches regarding players who are doing well in the age group below that could progress into our squad and with the age group above to discuss my players who could play for the Under 18 squad.

In my role at the City of Liverpool College, I worked as part of a large sports department, where I often worked collaboratively with other tutors in order to help the students maximize their experience at the College. With my experienced coaching background, I was often consulted on matters regarding the delivery of practical coaching content and modern trends in coaching. I also contributed regularly to team meeting with regards to updates on progress of students and pastoral support for students with individual educational and personal difficulties. At the College there is a very diverse collective of students and I was been able to adapt my teaching to ensure that they all have the optimum experience. This has included giving varied examples to assist students understanding of a topic, also giving varied methods of assignment submission for students with financial difficulties. I also contributed highly with the implementation of the new BTEC Level 2 specification at the College, as I self educated myself on the changes at all BTEC levels particularly Level 2 and assisted other members of the staff with the transition including the sharing of resources and suggesting methods of assessment.

During my time within the football department at Myerscough College my main role was to deliver on a range of qualifications from the Level 2 diploma through to the foundation degree programme, which I have delivered both on campus and on external sites such as Blackburn Rovers Football Club Academy. Within these courses I taught numerous subjects including Anatomy and Physiology, Practical Sport, Exercise Health and Lifestyle, Nutrition, Psychology, Sports Coaching and Sports Event Management. Teaching the range of subjects and courses that I have taught this year has allowed me to develop my teaching methods in many different environments and using different assessment methods. For example. Students have created 6 week training programmes for a client to improve their overall health within the exercise health and lifestyle module, and also students have gained their Level 1 football coaching qualification and used that as part of an assessment for the sports coaching module.I was the Level 2 course tutor for Football Studies, which means I have been responsible for a group of students in all aspects of their college life; this includes their academic side, football side and any other issues that may come up around college. This has enabled me to get to know seven students really well and help them overcome issues in all aspects of their life to ensure that they are successful and achieve the best grades they can on their course. In addition to this I have also covered some of the football coaching sessions throughout the year when other staff have not been in, this has allowed me to use my coaching experience in work and assisted me in developing a better connection with the students outside of my course group, as I get to know them as a footballer as well as a student.

At West Cheshire College I worked 1 full day per week with the Level 3 Extended Diploma BTEC Sport Students. I delivered module topics as part of a three-person team, where I would deliver individually or as a group. At first I delivered lectures that the other tutors had prepared, however as time progressed I was given more ownership for creating my own lectures, eventually being able to lead the Sports Coaching module in the third term. I also was able to assess the students for parts of their modules including their CYQ award for the Fitness Testing and Training modules and their coaching sessions for the Sports Coaching Award.

During my time at Wrexham, I constructed and delivered session plans, which correlated closely to the clubs development plan on developing each individual player technically. I consulted with the management team as each player was striving for a first academy contract, so I would ask for feedback on players and voice my opinion to ensure we made the right decisions on players. I was also responsible for providing feedback to players and parents through parents evenings every 6 weeks to give the players as much opportunity to develop as possible.

Liverpool, United Kingdom

Working at Liverpool Football Club gave me the opportunity to coach local players in Chester who had been identified by the club to have potential to play for the academy. They came in on a six-week trial where both another coach and myself would introduce them to the clubs philosophy and training sessions that the club provided for us to deliver. As a team we would evaluate the performance of the players and communicate with the academy making a decision on whether to promote them to the full Academy in Liverpool. In addition to this I was able to work with the soccer schools in several destinations across Europe, where I delivered a coaching programme designed by the club, working with an interpreter on occasions and developing my communication skills with players who’s primary language was not English.
