Lead Engineer for STATCOM projects. Coordinated with end customer and all Hitachi Energy engineering teams to ensure engineering deliverables were on schedule. Also coordinated between site construction management and engineering teams to provide site support as needed. Engineering disciplines coordinated with: mechanical, electrical, civil, controls, system design, system studies.

Contracted to Enviva Pellets as Project Manager for capital projects. PM and Construction Manager during shutdowns. Work with stakeholders to develop full scope from a concept, put together SOW/RFP packages, facilitate contractor visits, compare bids, develop project budget and cost schedules, pitch projects for funding, issue POs, manage budgets, develop schedules, oversee construction, and closeout projects.

Construction Manager of the Amundsen–Scott South Pole Station for the United States Antarctic Program. (Deployed contract position). Directly responsible for the execution of project construction, following project plans, specifications, safety, and project schedules. Keeps the project managers informed of project status, issues, and incidents. Oversee construction superintendents, craft supervisors, and crafts-persons. Plan and coordinate for availability of equipment, tools and materials required to execute scopes of work.

Design mechanical and electrical upgrades for Palmer Station, United States Antarctic Program. Collaborate with drafting to create installation and as-built drawings. Provide construction and engineering support for science proposals. Interview, hire, and manage seasonal maintenance contractors. Control and report on annual budget for construction material resupply and labor. Work with outside companies to solicit proposals for custom equipment and materials, and to put together formal change requests for additional scope and funding when needed. Maintain a life cycle replacement list for equipment and exterior structures. Inspect exterior towers, utilidors, walkways, and anchoring equipment. Frequently use Maximo for procurement and Oracle Primavera Contract Management software for construction planning.

Worked as part of a 3 person crew installing tower reinforcements across the country, 100% travel position. Installed dywidag on monopoles, installed sub horizontals on guyed towers, also preformed guy wire swaps as ground worker and tower worker at elevations of up to 350 feet. Other work performed included replacing diagonals on self-support towers, mapping towers and field fabricating components from rough stock. Daily operations to install reinforcements included marking and chalk lining, mag drilling, grinding, mapping, and moving coax cable. Proficient in winch operation, setting up rigging, lanyard climbing, and working on rappel.

Completed a 6 year part time internship upon college graduation, May 2012. Full time as a Mechanical Design Engineer for an additional 2 years. Modify standard product designs to fit custom functionality and size requirements of customer. Design, detail, and organize parts and assemblies with SolidWorks and Parts and Vendors, P&ID design with AutoCAD. Travel to Pharmaceutical and Nuclear power facilities for system support, testing and installations. Contact vendors to select parts and components, get quotes, and lead times. Test and assemble custom designs and standard ventilation units in warehouse. Emphasis of work is complex sheet metal design, piping, HVAC design and pressure loss calculations in systems to specify proper equipment size and type requirements. Provide HEPA filtration systems and radiation shielding solutions for worker protection in the pharmaceutical and nuclear industry. Operate with Dispersed Oil Particulate (DOP) Testing of Filter Systems, ensuring proper HEPA filter efficiency. Subcontracted to Williams Specialty Services to provide support for RPS designed HVAC systems. Supervised installation, tested systems, provided engineering support, system monitoring, and environmental data recording. Collaborate with management to time filter change-outs and ventilation configuration shifts for different phases of projects. Recently given title of Safety Coordinator and will review the company’s internal safety plan, sign off on documents and ensure they are being implemented.
