Prepare for and preside over all meetings of the board and of the members. Be the liaison between the Board of Directors and the Chief Executive Officer of the Credit Union. • Work with the Chief Executive Officer and the board to develop objectives and goals for the credit union, including strategic plans. • Assures that the credit union adheres to pertinent laws, regulations, and sound business practices.• Assures that the credit union maintains sound financial conditions and that the credit union’s assets are protected against unauthorized or illegal acts. • Provides leadership to the Board of Directors in order to designate depositories, authorize borrowing and investing; provide for bonding and other security factors, including internal control procedures; approve recommended interest rates, dividends, and refunds, or approve recommended policies to guide management in doing so; approve recommended loan limits and savings minimums.• Work to ensure that management develop necessary policies for all credit union programs and activities. Review policies and bylaws at least once a year and update as necessary. • Work to ensure the approve of the credit union budget.• Work with the Board of Directors to hire and define the scope of the CEO’s job. • Maintains all business affairs and affairs of its members in a confidential manner and refrains from any relationship that would create a conflict of interest with regard to the credit union.• Fill vacancies of the Board of Directors, Supervisory and various committees.• Attend Board meetings, exercise judgment independently from the chief executive officer, and report to the members at the Annual Meeting.
