I am a freelance registered practitioner with the University of Greenwich, working as a Support Lecturer to facilitate the delivery of High Fidelity Simulation to pre-registration student nurses at various stages of their university course.

Employed as a Deputy Charge Nurse in a busy and fast-paced Emergency Department in Central London. I have undertaken an 8 month secondment in the ED Practice Development Team as a Clinical Nurse Educator. This exciting opportunity allowed me to develop myself as an educator, practitioner and leader. Key responsibilities of this role included the full clinical induction of new staff across different bands, supporting and developing registered staff new to Emergency Nursing, and mentoring nurses who have recently been promoted, working alongside them while undertaking their first in-charge shifts and providing real time feedback and guidance. Furthermore, this role involved one-on-one support of staff needing further supervision in practice, creating development plans and feeding back to their line managers and matrons as appropriate. As a Clinical Nurse Educator, I co-ordinated weekly drop-in teaching sessions, held on the shop floor and open to all clinical staff on shift. Practitioners both from the ED and external to the department would be invited to give a short talk on a subject, usually derived from recent clinical incidents or change in practice or policy.

I have successfully completed the Level 7 QIS Emergency Nursing course, accredited by King's College London, and have substantial experience in patient assessment and triage, management of clinical areas and team leadership.I have an interest in medical devices and medical equipment management; I am the Clinical Equipment Lead for the Emergency Department, which involves medical device training, quality control and assurance, capital bidding and close working relationships with regional company reps. I also have experience in running patient education sessions for wearable medical technology, such as insulin pumps and glucose sensors. I am passionate about pre-registration nursing education and development, with a strong interest in innovative teaching methodologies that give ownership of learning to the learner, such as on-the-spot 'teachable moments' and Enquiry-Based Learning. I am a Link Nurse for pre-registration student nurses on placement in the Emergency Department, helping to facilitate a rich, diverse and supportive learning environment for the next generation of Registered Nurses.
