Profile bio

About Joe D.

I have always been passionate about technology from a very young age, when I got my first PC at age eleven which was a 486 DX33. I was deeply fascinated with how computers worked and wanted to learn more. One of the first things I learnt to do was creating a menu system in DOS where I could select games I wanted to play. From there I learnt about operating systems and installing them and moved to building my own PC’s. My appetite for IT continued over the years and as I gained my first IT certifications and landed my first IT job doing network support. My passion for IT and in particular cyber security continues, attaining a graduate certificate in Cyber Security (GPA 6.67).I was also a participant in the Australian Defence Force Cyber gap program for 2021. This was an amazing experience with challenging labs to solve, which included vulnerability scanning, using Elastic & Kibana, examining logs, malware analysis and using Wireshark and Yara. We completed a capture the flag challenge in which I was able to solve many of the problems and scored very well in, considering this was the first one I have completed. Presently I am continuing upskilling across a few different cyber areas using platforms such as TryHackMe and Security Blue Team.
