I lead and support the investigations related to violent criminal acts and suspected unlawful activities. I am responsible for upholding department standards and industry best practices while following processes and procedures, regularly leading to cases being resolved and suspects being apprehended. With each case being different, I am well-versed in leveraging a myriad of methods to obtain evidence, crucial to understanding timelines and events leading up to, during, and after a criminal act. This is integral in pinpointing motives and narrowing down persons of interest / suspects. Subsequent actions taken include directly collecting evidence, interviewing people such as witnesses, victims, and informants, and gathering scientific and technical analysis and details from crime scene investigators, forensic professionals, and external agencies. I am familiar with documenting all actions and findings, which can and have been recalled during later stages of an investigation and in court proceedings. I also continuously assess division performance and modernize detective services.• Designed and introduced the police department's first Forensic Genetic Genealogy Investigations which has been essential to closing cold cases and unidentified human remains cases, including identifying a 41 year old unidentified human remains case.• The Forensic Genetic Genealogy Investigations tool has provided an additional benefit in the form of saving costs for taxpayers as accuracy and efficiency have reduced spending. • Assignments to date include Property and Fraud, Repeat Offender Intelligence Unit, Fire and Arson Fatality Fire Scene Investigations, and Officer Involved Shooting Investigations.
