Houston, Texas

I was hired to manage the ITS Superfund Site near the Houston Astrodome. The site had an extensive groundwater recovery remediation system that had been largely designed and constructed by Maxim. Maxim was currently operating the system under a 10-year, fixed-cost contract and they were currently in year 2. Over 50 tons of RCRA-contaminated soil had recently been excavated and stockpiled on site from leaks within the groundwater recovery system. The project was Maxim's worst "loss" project at the time. In fact, they did not even know how much they were losing. So, I was hired to correct all the issues at the site. Within 6 months, I was able to quantify the estimated loss of the project (>$3M); I identified the design flaws and stopped the leaks; I had all stockpiled soils removed within the RCRA time constraints; I change ordered the Texas Natural Resources Conservation Commission (TNRCC) and was successfully reimbursed $250K for the excavation and removal of the contaminated soils; and I successfully negotiated a release from the 10-year contract with the TNRCC. I worked directly with the President and CFO of Maxim during this time. As a result of my efforts, I received special recognition from the President.

Managed two programs; State Voluntary Superfund Program (VSP) and Title V Air Permitting Program. Had 25 active projects between the two programs.

Oakridge, Tn

Responsible for leading three engineering groups in authoring CERCLA feasibility studies (FS) to address soil and groundwater contamination at Kelly AFB in San Antonio, Texas. Also responsible for developing remedial designs and remedial action (RD/RA) to address soil contamination underlying golf course while keeping at least 9 holes open. Designed UV oxidation system to address solvent contaminated groundwater that included vinyl chloride.

Started and lead UST remediation group within the company. Generated over $2M in revenue during tenure. Designed and installed 19 UST soil and/or groundwater remediation systems throughout the southeastern U.S. I was the number one client of Geraghty & Miller's fabrication office in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Clients included Fina, Exxon, Mobil, Phillips 66 and Mapco.

Dallas, Texas

I worked in the enhanced oil recovery (EOR) lab. I designed and build a steam-flood generator to simulate secondary recovery using representative core samples from developed oil fields. I ran the calculations to determine secondary percent recovery. I was also responsible for converting the entire EOR lab computer hardware and software from Apple to IBM compatible.
