Joe Hardtke has been chopping up audio since he was six, recording and dubbing original radio plays and music on his parents home stereo.In the years since, he's successfully covered nearly every aspect of audio content creation: Writing, hosting, production, reporting, engineering, podcasting, technical direction, mixing, composition, sales and promotion.By day, he's the Technical Director for the Peabody Award-winning "To the Best of Our Knowledge," crafting and leading the show's sound design and presentation. In his off hours, he's produced, recorded and composed original material for "The Moth," WBEZ's "Re:Sound," PRX, "Everything Sounds," The BBC's "Short Cuts" and London's Noise Festival. He's produced two albums of original music and specializes in turning found sounds and dialog into moving emotional centerpieces.An expert collaborator, Joe has supervised broadcast recordings with Justin Vernon, Wynton Marsalis and Vijay Iyer. He's led teams of high school and college students in producing original content. Outside the studio, he's managed dozens of live concert recordings, broadcast tours and media events.He has no idea where his ears will take him next, but it's certain to sound curious.
