I have in-depth experience in many areas of systems and infrastructure engineering and administration from mainframes and mid-range Unix to Windows and Linux. I have over 20 years of experience in virtualization with VMware products from vSphere and ESXi to NSX (T, V & ALB), Horizon 8, SRM, HCX and Aria products (Operations, Automation, and Orchestrator). I have an extensive background in storage from NFS servers to large SANs as well as Veritas (hwr&sfw) and several software based backup solutions. I have worked with many monitoring solutions from OPS/MVS to CA-Unicenter, CA-Spectrum, OpManager, and others. I have designed, deployed, maintained and repaired Active Directory infrastructures and have deployed and maintained Windows Certificate Authority configurations on physical and virtual devices. I am proficient with PowerShell and Python scripting and an extensive background in automation coding from my mainframe days.As you can see, I have a broad spectrum of experience and successes in the systems administration, engineering, automation and security areas with a focus on delivering outstanding support to my customers. Many of my personal efforts and those of teams led by me continue as major contributors to organizational success in SLA delivery and environmental stability. A case in point is my most recent project consisted of learning, designing, and building a Horizon 8 VDI environment in VMware Cloud on AWS and migrate 150+ developer workstations off the physical platform in little over a year.Some of my career successes include:- Deployment of multi-tiered FISMA-high secure vSphere (v6-8) infrastructures- Multiple DR site recovery configuration deployments using NSX, Zerto and SRM - Deployment of Windows Server and Active Directory up through Server 2019 from domain creation to server builds to gold image templates for virtualization- Virtual migration of complete applications and site infrastructures- Extensive design of projects ranging from multi-tiered applications and OEM product deployments to a large scale, multi-site monitoring infrastructure involving hundreds of physical and virtual servers- Management and site support from dark sites up through 7x24 data centers - Extensive experience migrating everything from applications to data centers - I have worked in multiple government cleared positions. When this didn’t happen, I shifted to learning, designing, and deploying VMware Horizon 8 in the VM Cloud on AWS environments before migrating the virtual workstations and users to it ahead of schedule. Senior Systems EngineerLumen Technologies Apr 2019 - May 2021Monroe, Louisiana , UsThis position began as an effort to develop an MTIPS filtration service for the company to gain access to larger government contracts. I deployed the Proof of Concept platform consisting of Dell servers and SAN supporting and Juniper network components. The POC succeeded and moved into the next phase where I and a Network Engineer deployed two production environments including Fortinet, Infoblox, and SL-1 (EM7) equipment/software. The platforms were configured using NSX-T to allow hot migration (Storage vMotion) of servers between sites for DR purposes. Just as we were approaching final validation for production deployment as a FIPS compliant platform, the company was acquired by one with an existing MTIPS solution.At this point, the environments were repurposed to support monitoring of government assets. The vSphere and NSX-T components were rebuilt and other components removed or reconfigured for the new purpose. The environment was brought online on time and under budget.
