I completed my MEng placement in the Digital Design department. For this project, I produced a transaction-level modelling framework in SystemC to analyse on-chip bus fabric performance. I modelled all the design modules and automated the system building process. This project has challenged me to work on a substantial independent project while allowing me to gain experience in another area of the company.

My placement focussed on redesigning the workflow structure used within product development by the Product Test Engineering team. I built a new workflow template and produced a number of internal review documents for formal progress sign-off. This workflow process and documents are now used across the team. This placement developed my organisational skills and ability to work within a team greatly.Alongside this, I worked on a cutting-edge development project for another team.

I worked within the Product Test Engineering department, using python scripts to automate the process of collecting test data, loading it into a database and then displaying this data in a readable format. This project introduced me to various database tools, such as MySQL databases and Spotfire, as well as the process used to test and verify electronic devices. At the end of the project, I delivered a database and visualisation template that was used on new products.

While there I gained a multitude of skills, such as the ability to engage effectively with customers, and took on responsibility by helping to train new staff within catering.
