As many of you warned me about boredom in retirement, I did take on the challenge of learning a new skillset. I have been intrigued by the possibilities of Artificial Intelligence for a while now and dove in upon retirement. Today, I completed a 6-course sequence on Prompt Engineering for Large Language Models (ChatGPT and others) offered by Vanderbilt University with a 100% score on all six graded tests. During this time, I also have used ChatGPT to submit ten articles for publication and all ten have been accepted. As I wrote a few weeks ago, I have had four distinct and separate careers. This will make a fifth, but this will all be contractual on projects that I have a passion for. Learning to use this tool has been like have an invisible oracle to interact with whenever I choose. • Founder of Pallace Technologies Inc. that was acquired by Zygo Corporation for the purpose of the defining, developing, manufacturing, and marketing laser based flying height test equipment. • Initiated, the negotiations that resulted in the acquisition of NexStar Automation by Zygo Corporation in 1996.• Served as the international spokesperson for the Pegasus 2000 Production Flying Height Tester during and after product launch. This included direct communications with investment analysts, quality directors, standards committees, and data storage industry executives. Additionally, I authored technical articles and was an invited speaker at various international symposia.• Lead the engineering, marketing, sales, service, and pilot manufacturing efforts that culminated in the introduction of the first laser based flying height test instrument.• The common stock of Zygo Corporation rose from $2.33 per share to a high of $40.00 during my tenure as Division General Manager.

Acquired by Zygo Corporation in a reverse merger for the purpose of the defining, developing, manufacturing, and marketing laser based flying height test instrument. Identified and hired a 12 person product development team that delivered a prototype instrument in 6 months that was unveiled at the DiskCon 1995; Identified, initiated, and participated in the negotiations that resulted in the acquisition of NexStar Automation by ZygoThe common stock of Zygo Corporation rose from $2.33 per share to a high of $40.00 during my tenure as Division General Manager. Managed a multi-disciplinary engineering team in the development of manufacturing test equipment for the data storage industry. The types of instruments developed included media certifiers for testing the electrical signals written onto the surfaces of hard disks, servo writers for encoding the positioning reference tracks onto the surfaces of hard disks in a disk drive, flying height testers for measuring the distance a recording head is flying above a hard disk surface, and a host of specialized test equipment for stated customer purposes.

ALP Engineering was founded for the purpose of providing contract engineering services to the data storage industry; Ted Davis Manufacturing, and Hewlett Packard.ALP designed the Thales disk drive and production test equipment for KPTI of South Korea under contract for $2M. The technology and assets were acquired from KPTI by Daeyoung Pte. for $27M.ENGINEERING EXPERIENCES * California

for the 1700 series of 3 ½" hard disk drives. Responsible for all design, test, and pilot production for the product line from inception. Static and dynamic analysis of high speed, low mass, electromechanical devices such as linear motors, pivot block assemblies, shock isolation, and vibration control.

Responsible for the mechanical design and test of the Mini-Mod 8 ½" hard disk drive. Product was designed and manufactured by IBIS specifically to provide mass storage solutions for supercomputers manufactured by Cray Research. Conceived and fabricated a novel linear actuator that eliminated the discontinuity known as the "push-pull" effect. This innovation enabled the servo system designers to achieve higher bandwidth without sacrificing phase margin.

Member of the team that developed and introduced the world's first 3½" erasable optical disk drive demonstrated at the National Computer Conference in 1985. This technology eventually became the CD-ROM Burner.

Member of Engineering Staff * RCA; Entry level mechanical engineer on the staff of the recording systems group. Worked on both optical and magnetic recording devices deployed by various government agencies. NSA granted me a secret clearance.
