8 years after starting a business with my brother, we hit $100 million in revenue. In 2012, I was on a working holiday in New Zealand. My brother Marcus called me up one day and told me he was starting business of customisable PC’s and laptops. “I borrowed $80k from dad and aunty, and my life savings of $60k.” Not wanting him to lose money, I flew back to help. But when I saw the product, I knew we were on to something. Existing PC’s in the market were too expensive then, and customisable ones were extremely rare and difficult to assemble with no customer service. There was a huge market gap we could fill. Our first Aftershock gaming laptop was assembled in my bedroom.It took days to sell our first laptop. Then it became once a day, and then 5 laptops a day.By 2020, we were selling up to 3000 PC’s on a good month. With Aftershock’s success, we branched out into 3 businesses offering complementary products:1. Monitors and accessories — Prism+2. Custom ergonomic desks and chairs — Omnidesk3. Custom keyboards — MashPrism+ grew quickly and got acquired in 2022.Today, I spend my time tinkering and improving Omnidesk’s branding and marketing efforts.
