I’m building a company with my best friend. We’re working on Instant, the modern Firebase. We make it easy to build realtime and collaborative apps like Notion and Figma.I was born in Azerbaijan and immigrated to the US as a child. My parents were entrepreneurs and I was inspired to follow their path.At age 19 I graduated UCLA with a Math degree and started working in management consulting. I went deep into VBA and automating my workbooks. This sparked my desire for solving technical problems. My vision was entrepreneurship, so I moved to San Francisco and learned how to code.From 2013 - 2016 I worked at startups building internal tools for data science and sales teams. I loved building end-to-end solutions that enabled my co-workers to grow the company. Solving real problems is satisfying.From 2016 - 2020 I worked at Facebook and Airbnb. At Facebook I built and launched internal mobile apps using React Native. These were early days for RN, and the developer experience was mind blowing. Facebook showed me the importance of enabling developers to move fast. At Airbnb I got to combine my past life in data to launch self-serving dashboards for all incentive (coupon, credit, and cash) programs across company orgs. This was especially useful during our COVID-related relief efforts, where we sent $250M cash to impacted Airbnb hosts.Since 2020 I’ve been building with my best friend. We followed two rules initially 1) Build something we want for ourselves and 2) Make something more ambitious than previously. Since 2021 we added a third rule, 3) Make it a business. To that end we launched Jobsearch.dev, ExportHealth, Zeneca, Consistent, and are now working on Instant (https://instantdb.com).I truly believe each one of us has the ability to create the world they want to see. I love working with optimistic and principle-oriented people.
