As a Train Service Controller at GB Railfreight, I am responsible for monitoring train movements and ensuring the running of a right time railway. I proactively manage train crew booking on, manage incidents whilst considering fleet implications and handle disruption as it arises. I also keep stakeholders informed of train running, including Network Rail and GB Railfreight customers. Previously, I worked on the TOPS desk, monitoring train movements and ensuring that services are properly consisted on the railway computer system. I have a good understanding of the TOPS system, TRUST reporting, and delay attribution. I also have strong incident response and handling skills, which are essential for managing any disruptions.I have over eight years of experience in office administration, IT coordination, and customer service, working previously at Hawkins Sales and Lettings. I oversaw the upgrade of IT systems within the business, including moving to a cloud-based software package, migration to Office 365, and the introduction of Windows 10 Professional. I provided IT support to users on Office 365 applications and general day-to-day support on Windows 10. I also managed Windows Server environments and rolled out Windows Updates across the network.Outside of work, I am a passionate railway enthusiast and volunteer with an interest in electric traction and western region steam locomotives. I volunteer as Deputy Tour Manager at Vintage Trains, where I help plan and operate charter train services, delivering high-quality customer service and ensuring safety and compliance. I recognize the importance of railway preservation and the impact of volunteering on ensuring that railway history is retained for future generations to enjoy.
