My role is to help the MiBiz editorial team create content – whether in print or online – that’s relevant to our readers. In the newsroom, we know mentorship matters, so we match experienced editors and reporters with young talent to help them hone their craft and to develop strong reporting skills. We also believe in a traditional beat reporting structure and a hands-on editing process that values accuracy and thorough fact checking.My role includes: • Planning and delivering content for all MiBiz publications.• Working hands-on with the editorial team to produce content that’s relevant and accurate.• Fostering a team culture that values mentorship, professional development, and continuous improvement and learning. • Collaborating with the design team to produce print and online publications. • Building relationships with business leaders across West Michigan.• Identifying new opportunities for MiBiz.Previously served as Staff Writer, Associate Editor and Managing Editor.

Tribal Business News, a new business publication covering tribal economic development, Indigenous entrepreneurism and related government and policy issues, launched Oct. 1, 2020 as a collaboration of Native News Online and MiBiz. My responsibilities as the founding managing editor included:• Planning and delivering a weekly newsletter with original stories on economic issues in Indian Country, as well as reporting breaking news as it happens.• Leading a remote team of reporters and freelancers• Developing relationships with key decision-makers in Indian Country.• Working with our audience development team to identify ways to deepen and expand the reach of Tribal Business News.
