My passion for scientific inquiry and creative communication of this knowledge has drawn me to work in both the academic and biotech spheres: In my role at BD Biosciences, I develop our antibody portfolio to match the latest advances in immunology. The goal of my team is to enable cutting edge research on critical immune molecules by offering the best antibodies in the most useful formats.As a Senior Scientist at Scantibodies Laboratory, I provided consultation on tumor immunity projects as well as managing flow cytometry and monoclonal antibody development for clinical diagnostic immunoassays. I leveraged my technical background in immunology to increase the understanding of SLI's signature products and to augment this product line.In the academic realm (through 2020), I was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine, Division of Rheumatology, Allergy, and Immunology at the University of California San Diego. My lab studied how adhesive signaling governs the migration and proliferation of lymphocytes during autoimmune/ inflammatory disease and tumor defense. Using flow cytometry, gene targeting approaches, and mouse models for human disease, I investigated how adhesive signaling could be modulated to change T cell activation, expansion, and homing to inflamed tissues and solid tumors.
