Joseph A. Chorba, CPA is a Principal in the Audit Department of Wilkin & Guttenplan, P.C., and has been with the firm since 2002. Joe divides his time between working with clients in the real estate industry and closely-held businesses.As part of his real estate expertise, Joseph works with a multitude of CIRAs throughout New York and New Jersey. His work with them includes audits, reviews, agreed upon procedures, forecasts and consulting. He also assists real estate clients with sponsor transition procedures and project management.Joseph provides closely-held businesses with audit, review, compilation, tax planning / compliance and other miscellaneous consulting services.His internal audit experience includes Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 Compliance for a major client in the retail industry. Joseph supported management in documenting the internal controls over financial reporting including but not limited to the design of controls related to all significant accounts and disclosures in financial statements, how significant transactions are initiated, processed, recorded and reported, the flow of transactions, controls designed to prevent or detect fraud, controls over the period end financial reporting process, and controls over safeguarding of assets. Joseph also supported management in the assessment of the effectiveness of internal control over financial reporting based on the above processes.Joseph also contributes to the development of our entry-level staff and participates in the firm’s intern and staff training and orientation programs and is well versed in accounting software packages for small and medium sized businesses. Prior to joining Wilkin & Guttenplan, P.C., he worked as a staff accountant for a firm in West Orange providing accounting and bookkeeping services to a diverse client base.
