CommitterFreebsd Apr 2002 - PresentFreeBSD is an advanced Open Source operating system developed and maintained by a large group of individuals. As a committer for the project, I have access to commit code to the FreeBSD Subversion repositories. My area of responsibility includes the port of the GNOME Desktop to FreeBSD, the port of the Wireshark packet capture and analysis tool, the Netatalk implementation of the Apple Filing Protocol server, as well as a ports syntax checker used by all other FreeBSD ports committers.Outside of the FreeBSD ports system, my contributions include a Network Address Translation (NAT) Application Layer Gateway (ALG) for the Skinny voice over IP protocol. This gateway allows one to use a Cisco IP phone running a Skinny stack to make calls through a FreeBSD NAT router. I have also made some small kernel and userland contributions in support of the GNOME Desktop. -

Lead Xml Developer For Cvrf ProjectIndustry Consortium For Advancement Of Security On The Internet (Icasi) Apr 2010 - Apr 2012The Common Vulnerability and Reporting Framework (CVRF) is an XML-based language that enables different stakeholders across different organizations to share critical security-related information in a single format, speeding up information exchange and digestion. As the XML developer for this working group I provided my insight on the architecture of CVRF as well as help translate the requirements of the team into XML schema. During my time on this working group I worked with other developers to release two versions of the CVRF schema. The current version, 1.1, is being used by a number of vendors including Cisco.See http://www.icasi.org/cvrf .

Citizen TeacherCitizen Schools Sep 2011 - Dec 2011Boston, Ma, UsMyself and two other Cisco employees taught math to sixth and seventh grade students at Lowe's Grove Elementary School in Durham, NC. This was done after their regular school hours, so we had to employ techniques like games and applied learning to keep their energy level up. The class ran from September until a final project showing in December. We helped the students create a model game room for their school using mathematical functions such as area and perimeter (along with financial restrictions) to decide what could go in the room and where. The project not only taught the students math (and helped some achieve better test scores), but also helped them gain self-confidence when they had to present their project to family and community leaders. -
