After 35+ years of experience in the commercial broadcast industry with a winning track record in both radio and television, I made the switch to the world of cultural institutions in the summer of 2019. As the Director of Public Programs and Community Engagement at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, my job is two-fold. On the programming side, I’m responsible for working with a cross-section of the institution — historians, informal educators, and theater — in developing, organizing, planning, marketing, promoting, and executing a variety of programs (in-person and virtual) geared toward to a wide ranging audience from school-aged children through senior citizens. The community engagement side of my job includes reaching out to the community to speak about the museum and library services to communities organizations, as well as develop, organize, plan, market, promote, and execute service projects that tie the library and museum back into our community.
