This position is responsible for the management of the Rail Control Center and the directly associated management of the Light Rail System. This is a safety sensitive position subject to the rules of the RTD Drug and Alcohol Policy.Duties & Responsibilities: While on duty, directs equipment and personnel operating or performing work on the light rail system, monitors service intervals and schedules to determine efficiency of service and makes recommendations for adjustments to improve service, if necessary. Ensures that rail service is safely managed and sustained through the use of the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) control system, computer-based dispatching, radio and CCTV systems, and PA/variable message signs.Evaluates unusual conditions and situations and determines when to utilize SCADA to remove or restore overhead power and set up alternate routes. Coordinates with Bus Operations to establish bus bridges and reschedules service as needed.Advises appropriate departments of disruptions in service due to accidents, incidents, and/or adverse weather conditions.Contacts the Accident Investigation Team (AIT) for serious accidents and emergencies and coordinates with police, fire departments and other government agencies in emergency situations.

Provides support and assistance to bus operators in the performance of their daily duties in order to maintain an efficient and reliable transit system. Monitors bus service and investigates and analyzes situations which impact or may impact bus service. Communicates information and/or recommendations to appropriate management personnel. Interacts with management, bus operators, other employees, passengers and the public to coordinate problem resolution, provide information, carry out assignments and maintain high quality and timely transit service. This position is responsible for analyzing and developing alternative service delivery options for special services provided by the RTD for immediate implementation as well as for near and intermediate range service plans. Responsible for administering seniorRide programs and special shopping service programs within the District. Directs, develops, schedules, coordinates, administers, and analyzes the delivery of these services. Maintains day-to-day bus operation schedules for RTD and private contractors by initiating and responding to radio calls to and from bus operators, street supervisors, private contractors, and maintenance personnel. Advises and directs activities of bus operators while en route. Description Of Work:This position is responsible for the bus operations in and out of the Market Street and Civic Center bus terminals. Directs activities of Bus Operators while in the Station. Deals with public when needed.Duties & Responsibilities:Acts as on-site control for berthing, scheduling and mechanical problems with the bus terminals in coordination with Dispatch, Street Supervision and Scheduling.Operates equipment necessary to continually update passenger and driver information in the bus terminals, including maintaining daily log of bus numbers and arrival times.Requests assistance for bus mechanical problems and other emergency situations at the bus terminal and takes appropriate action to maintain station schedule adherence.Provides bus terminal operating information and procedures to bus operators and customers.Coordinates with Security, Legal and Human Resources staff and other managers and supervisors regarding incidents, accidents, policies, procedures, and customer complaints, including participation in potential disciplinary action for bus operators.

This position purchases vehicle and facility parts and supplies for inventory, as determined by the Sr. Materials Management Specialists, adhering to federal and state regulations and District policies; solicits quotes, determines best sources and awards purchase orders; insures that suppliers deliver materials and services as specified on purchase orders/contracts; cancels and re-procures orders that will be late from the original supplier; orders bulk fuel, oil and antifreeze; takes corrective action with vendors to improve performance.Duties & Responsibilities:ESSENTIAL:Conducts self in an appropriate manner as a representative of RTD, working effectively in a diverse work environment.Decides on the quantity and timing of bulk fluid orders. This involves extensive vendor and RTD staff contact in placing orders and resolving problems on 7,000,000 gallons of fuel, oil, antifreeze, and soap. Places orders, resolves vendor problems.Buys materials for inventory based on computer generated requisitions.Evaluates vendor performance and takes corrective action.Negotiates adjustments with suppliers (replacement of materials not conforming to specifications, freight charge discrepancies, etc.) Creates any resulting purchase order change notices.Verifies accuracy of freight bills and initiates check requests, or pays with pcard. This position involves all duties and responsibilities associated with transit vehicle operation. Duties include carrying out those functions pertaining to the safe, courteous, and efficient operation of assigned transit vehicles on routine and/or special service routes. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, employing defensive driving techniques, maintaining professional courtesy while under stress, making public address announcements, properly answering questions and solving transit-related concerns of passengers, and exercising prudent judgment under a variety of constantly changing operating conditions.
