This is a safety sensitive position subject to the rules of the RTD Drug and Alcohol Policy.Duties & Responsibilities: While on duty, directs equipment and personnel operating or performing work on the light rail system, monitors service intervals and schedules to determine efficiency of service and makes recommendations for adjustments to improve service, if necessary. Ensures that rail service is safely managed and sustained through the use of the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) control system, computer-based dispatching, radio and CCTV systems, and PA/variable message signs.Evaluates unusual conditions and situations and determines when to utilize SCADA to remove or restore overhead power and set up alternate routes. Coordinates with Bus Operations to establish bus bridges and reschedules service as needed.Advises appropriate departments of disruptions in service due to accidents, incidents, and/or adverse weather conditions.Contacts the Accident Investigation Team (AIT) for serious accidents and emergencies and coordinates with police, fire departments and other government agencies in emergency situations.
