CurrentThe Institute of Relational Being (IRB) is an emerging organization that is rooted in educational outreach and facilitation but transcends the grounds of academia as it is part of a journey of relational remembrance. This is to say, IRB is an ecocentric entity that is being co-created by humans and their multi-speicies ecological communities, participating in a process that is of service to shifting the dominant political, economical, and social paradigms towards more holistic, relational and inclusive ways of living, learning, and being, together with the rest of this living world.IRB is in part working (and playing) in the space in-between the story and life ways that dominate a majority of our global human centered societies (that we call modernity), and those places and spaces where we are already learning to embrace and respect the rights of the rest of nature. Thankfully we are already seeing legal rights and personhood being acknowledged for certain agency filled beings beyond humans, like Rivers for example, but the great challenge we still find we face are our daily practices and processes we navigate through in the present, where we arrive at a practice and behavioral way of being that has normalized human collaborations and co-creative engagement with our multi-species, more-than-human companions. This is a primary part of the work that IRB is involved with. Joe is honored to be of service to this work as one of the co-creators and founders of IRB, alongside the River Dart, Jackdaws, Nettle, and other beings of South Devon, England and the Canyons, Coyote, Owls, Lavender, and other multi-species beings of The Southern California Coast Bioregion.IRB has a growing number of collaborators of the human variety around the globe and each of them work together with their local ecological communities and bioregions. There are workshops, consulting offerings, trainings, and a Relational Media/Networking App in development.
