About Joe Cummings
Award-winning writer Joe Cummings has contributed to CNN Travel, BBC Travel, Conde Nast Traveler, Travel & Leisure, Asian Wall Street Journal, The Daily Telegraph, The Sunday Times, San Francisco Examiner, LA Times, Lonely Planet, Berlitz Guides, Moon Handbooks, and many other publications. He wrote on Southeast Asian political affairs for The Asia Record while earning an MA in South Asian Civilization, with concentrations in Thai language and Southeast Asian art history at the University of California at Berkeley. Joe became one of Lonely Planet's first guidebook authors, creating the seminal Lonely Planet Thailand guide, followed by five other new titles as well as updates for other countries in the region. His World Food Thailand became the first book in English on Thai food culture, and he has since written several cookbooks for well-known Thai chefs.Joe spent three years as deputy editor of Bangkok Post's TheMagazine, followed by nine years as editor-at-large for Talisman Media Group, which publishes Bangkok 101 magazine and Bangkok Art Map.His work has been included in several travel anthologies, including I Should Have Stayed Home; Lights, Camera, Travel; The Wurst of Lucky Peach; Burmese Design & Architecture; and Ultimate Food Journeys.
