Oversee the Ottawa Area ISD's VMware and Windows infrastructure, including a Technology Consortium that includes three School Districts in the datacenter.Responsibilities include:- Manage VMware Infrastructure/vSphere clusters on Production, Corporate and Test/Development environments.- Fine tune VMs configurations to get the best performance/resource consumption.- Detection of VMware issues, monitoring and ownership of standards and requirements.- Participate in capacity planning for the infrastructure.- Provide tools and procedures for resources provisioning.- Document process and procedures.- Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.- Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures.- Contribute to and maintain system standards.- Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks.- Perform daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary.- Support and maintain Active Directory.- Support and maintain Group Policies.
