I am passionate about utilizing EdTech in elementary education and have over 10 years of experience as an elementary classroom teacher. I hold a Generalist and ESL (EC-6) Teaching Certification from the Texas Education Agency. I also have a BA in Economics from the University of Dallas. As the Math Content Teacher Leader for Grade 1 in the Uplift Education charter network, I was responsible for developing the scope and sequence, unit plans, unit assessments and daily lesson plans which were implemented in thirteen schools across the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. I ensured the sequence of the curriculum taught concepts in a logical progression, identified gaps in understanding, and designed interactive lessons to fill those gaps. I have experience as a Curriculum Developer at Amplify and MIND Education. In both roles I have helped develop a K-5 curriculum aligned to the Texas Education Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). I appreciate that EdTech makes it possible to meet a learner where they are and help them progress accordingly, giving them the opportunity to learn in the way the brain was intended to learn, leading to a true conceptual understanding of the material.
