The Friends of the Watauga Library is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to serving and financially supporting the Watauga Public Library in its endeavors to serve the local area with educational, cultural, social, and research programming. I have been a member since its inception in 1987 and have held various positions. I am a charter member and have been awarded an Honorary Lifetime Membership for promoting the principles of the organization.As President, I am responsible for setting organizational goals, recruiting and managing volunteers, implementing programs, financial reporting, conducting public relations and fundraising activities..

In a Special Municipal Election held in 2005, the citizens of Watauga adopted the Civil Service process for its Police, Fire/EMS employees. Texas statutory law requires the Civil Service to maintain special records, conform to specific notice and testing requirements when hiring and promoting, and follow rigorous procedures when disciplining or terminating these classified employees.I have served as a member, vice-chair, and current chairman.

As General Manager under the direction of the corporate owners, I presided over all short and long term goals of a multi-million dollar bedding manufacturing facility with 3 locations and 75 employees. I insured the company’s operations were in strict compliance with all local, state and federal regulatory agencies. I compiled, designed and published all catalogs (printed & electronic), multiple price lists, brochures, and point of sale materials. On a continuous basis, I researched industry trends and our competition’s products and services. I had an active part in contract negotiations with vendors, customers, employees, and other third parties. I performed customer relation activities including validating client information, establishing credit terms, and performing necessary collection activities. Also on a daily basis, I monitored all accounting functions, auditing, P&L, HR functions, and safety programs. During my tenure at Royal Sleep, we were awarded the honor of being named the manufacturer of the “World’s Largest Bed” by Guinness Book of World Records 2008.

I provided my customers the highest quality banking and help desk services through the use of the intranet, internet and telephone. I daily processed 100+ service requests from customers on a timely basis with exceptional accuracy. I assisted customers with solving technical issues using the bank's intranet and internet services. Consistently met and exceeded monthly team and personal goals and mentored new team members.

2008 Money Magazine's Great American Towns - BEST PLACES TO LIVE AWARDI served four terms as an elected official for a growing dynamic city of 23,000 citizens in the Fort Worth-Dallas metro area. I also served on the Executive Board of the Northeast Chamber of Commerce, a Member of the North Central Texas Council of Governments, Texas Municipal League, and the National League of Cities. During my time in office, the City purchased the drinking water and waste water systems from our neighboring city, implemented flood control measures including constructing a recreational lake, the expansion of a US Highway from two lanes to seven, and an explosion of economic growth by creating a 68 acre retail shopping center. During my tenure as a Councilmember and Mayor Pro Tem, I also served as President of the Watauga Parks & Economic Development Corporation and the Secretary of the Watauga Crime Control and Prevention District.
