WHAT I DO: I make complex matters understandable through writing and consulting. I consult and write directly, doing in-person presentations, due-diligence studies or targeted problem-solving. WHO I AM: I’m an experienced Manufacturing and Management leader, thinker, writer and consultant, whom some would call “retired”. I prefer to view my role as reinvesting my experience to help new and existing businesses thrive. WHO I WORK WITH: I know three things well and focus my efforts in these arenas. Each has its own complexities which I’ve made understandable. My professional experience is in manufacturing and operations, particularly using Lean Manufacturing and Theory of Constraints as guiding paradigms. As a former company officer, I understand the challenges of linking strategy to action, making finances work, achieving compliance and driving quality and safety. I have extensive personal experience working with churches and church leadership. I’m a marathon runner and understand the running and racing industry. WHY IT WORKS: In a complex world, clarity matters. I can distill clarity out of muddy waters and communicate it in writing and in person. People want to know what is happening and their next step. WHAT MAKES ME DIFFERENT: I listen more than I talk. I process information carefully, sometimes over several days, often while running many miles. Out of that, I test my conclusions with you to see if it resonates. Wherever possible, I further test the clarity with data, as befitting my engineering education and mindset. I do all this from a posture of humility and support. HOW IT WORKS: We start by talking, mostly you explaining your current complexity. I’ll suggest a path and you can respond.
