Shift Supervisor - Housekeeping
Nw Indiana
Not-for-profit 200 plus-bed acute care hospital offering a broad range of services. Part of the Community Healthcare System, Northwest Indiana's 3 hospital healthcare system. Worked with two shifts of housekeeping staff of up-to 56 employees to perform daily tasks of cleaning the hospital, patient rooms and doctor’s offices, maintaining floors and carpet, overseeing patient, client, doctor and office relationships, and ensuring department’s service and satisfaction. Trained and developed Housekeeping “processes” such as “picture perfect” that raised the patient satisfaction and cleanliness scores to above the national threshold by across the board implementation and follow up. Received several personal “thank you” notes from the Support Services Director and CEO in recognition of hard work and successful performance. Raised employee/patient satisfaction and cleanliness scores from 45% to 90% in one year with program ideas such as “aces in their places,” training and development workshops, one-on-one and team high, medium and low development as well as interdepartmental and peer recognition initiatives such as “shout outs,” employee of the month, and “spirit cards”. This union of housekeeping, nursing staff, doctor’s offices and patients spoke to not only the dedication and buy-in of the staff, but also the new spirit of teamwork that these best practices established put the patient first in the minds and actions of the hospital staff.
