Institute For Homeland Security Solutions
The Institute for Homeland Security Solution is a research consortium established in 2007 to conduct applied research in the social and behavioral sciences to address a wide range of homeland security challenges. IHSS focuses on developing near-term solutions to practical, real-world problems that have broad applications, including critical policy and operational implications of new technologies and information analysis tools. Responsible for the overall research focus of IHSS, including design and technical support on a wide range of political violence, security, and safety projects. IHSS has three primary research products: short reviews of the state of the science called research briefs, investigator initiative research projects awarded through a competitive proposal process, and client directed research projects. Oversees the management team, budget process, contractual issues, business development, competitive proposal process, long-term strategic planning for the institute, and liaison with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and university partners.
