Each of these events was extremely profitable, ranging in attendance from 200-500 attendees and 30+ exhibitors. Spending 12 years as the editor and vice-publisher of a technology magazine led to the development of an extensive network of business contacts in geospatial data, software and services as well as the large community of resellers and partners.The experience in location intelligence focused on the business applications of the technology including retail site selection, insurance risk analysis, and the identification of opportunities in wide-ranging applications from telecommunications to banking.By way of background, my formal education is in geology, obtaining degrees from Rutgers and Dartmouth. After spending the first years of my career with both the US Geological Survey and Sun Exploration, I observed the benefits of utilizing maps and data for use in business. I then attended Southern Methodist University to obtain my MBA in marketing with a minor concentration in real estate finance.In the area of community outreach, I founded GEOHuntsville in 2012, a 501c6 non-profit, to support geospatial technology workforce development and serving Huntsville, Alabama Mayor Tommy Battle's economic development council. I am also the executive director of Exemplar City®, Inc., a 501c3 affiliate organization to GEOHuntsville for training and development of geospatial technologies for city government that I also founded in 2014.
