Joseph Fugallo is an American filmmaker and inventor. During his time working as a motion picture remote systems technician for Panavision New York, Joseph was enamored by the sophisticated designs of the equipment he worked with. With aspirations to develop his own motion picture remote system equipment, he began compiling a road map to bring this dream to fruition. Without access to the resources necessary to employ a team, Joseph took it upon himself to learn about the various disciplines of engineering and manufacturing that developing such equipment would require. Concurrently, Joseph’s father was developing a product concept with his business partners, but they encountered challenges that were outside the scope of their collective capability at the time. Knowing his expertise and intellect would fill the void, they invited Joseph to join the team and assist in developing the concept, and it was at this point that the Anchor Box was born. The Anchor Box is a cast-in-place anchoring system that uses the reinforcing steel of the concrete superstructure as a means of anchoring. While the Anchor Box is a strong anchoring system, it could be used only in limited applications, because of the size of void it created in the concrete. Faced with this reality, the team at Ajustco -- spearheaded by Joseph and his father -- had to revised the concept and solution to make it universally functional. That rethinking resulted in the Anchor Thread system of anchoring in concrete. Joseph’s contribution to co-inventing and developing the Anchor Thread earned him the position of Chief Design Officer for Ajustco, where he continues to expand the functionality of the system with more varied and specific applications. Meanwhile, Anchor Thread is already being used on many construction sites; has earned the praise of prestigious developers, contractors, municipal building departments and insurance firms; and has won numerous innovation awards.
