Web ApplicationsBuilt from the groud up, a suite of web applications to enable rapid integration with Paymentech's credit card payment APIs and SDKs. This suite consisted of 3 main modules:Catalog module – allows users to download API/SDK specifications, while tracking statistics that enable reporting via different criteriaCertify module – allows users to submit test credit card transactions to verity that legal parameter combinations were submitted and to determine if the user is getting the best interchange rate (lowest transaction cost). This system included a validation and parsing mechanism to examine each test transaction against a set of defined rules.Campaign module – allows users to describe their payment application in detail as an advertisement facility to the Paymentech Sales staff. For this suite, I also implemented a search facility similar to Google. The search mechanism scanned all documentation and application advertisement details using a key word index implemented using the open-source Lucene search engine. These web applications used jQuery and aJax to create dynamic web pages that offer a simple design, yet provides a highly usable interface for the customer.
Software Architect
Lead the design and implementation of Enablence's (Pannaway's) Element Management System. This product provides a triple-play (voice, video, and data) solution to rural telephony service providers and offers a task-based approach to managing essential network wide services. All management software was architected using Java (J2EE), HTTP, SNMP, and SOAP / XML to provide a flexible, scalable, multi-tiered application to manage a SIP-based and MGCP-based VoIP solution. The product suite was designed to leverage open-source building blocks like JBoss, Apache, Tomcat, and PostgreSQL to quickly build a competitive EMS application.Key Deliverables - Modular Plugin Architecture The architecture consists of a layered object oriented design. There are two main components: the platform and vendor specific modular "plugins". As the leader for the EMS team, I was responsible for the design, development, and timely delivery of all functional areas. The main product consists of the following array of network management services: · Subscriber profile management · Flow-through provisioning · Automatic device discovery and device classification · Automatic configuration services · Scheduled bulk firmware updates [unicast & multicast] · Scheduled bulk configuration updates via Templates and Telnet command-line scripts · Inventory and database management · Detailed device information and trouble-shooting views · Statistics reporting and performance monitoring · Events and Alarm management · FTP and TFTP services · SNMP, HTTP(S), and XML message services
Software Architect
Lead the design and implementation of a multi-threaded C++ server (for Linux and Solaris) that configures IP routers to control the quality of service (QoS) delivery in environments using Cetacean's patented technology (CNT). The server builds and maintains an IP router topology of all CNT enabled devices. As links fail the server automatically detects and reroutes traffic (QoS reservations) around the affected area. When links become active, new resources and paths become available for QoS requests. Since the server tracks resource usage, network utilization is dramatically increased because traffic is automatically spread to underutilized areas. The server was designed from the ground up to be high performance and fault tolerant. The primary server continuously synchronizes the "active" reservations with a secondary server. When the primary server fails, the secondary server assumes the responsibility for setting up and tearing down reservations on the network.
Software Architect
Lead designer/developer of these key system features · Developed a Java based application that discovers, builds, and maintains a logical OSPF network model using SNMP queries. · Designed diagnosis algorithms to determine the root cause of a problem by examining the IP layers and dependencies expressed in a rich network data model. This application accelerated service restoration for customers with large IP routed networks by delivering OSPF path diagnosis and performance measuring applications. · Demonstrated patented next-generation multi-layered root-cause diagnosis features at Interop, a key trade-show technology exposition.
Software Architect
Spectrum 6.0 · Designed and developed VLAN troubleshooting and visualization products used to reduce network troubleshooting costs, allowing customers to resolve problems in 5 minutes rather than 30. · Designed a logical network overlay viewing system. Lead architect for a Java based device management solution · Lead a contextual inquiry investigation - constructed models to understand work flow, environment, tools, and work habits of network troubleshooters · Co-designed a network troubleshooter application based on usability models · Reduced duplicate development efforts by 60%, lead 5 device management teams with 45 engineers, and developed a unified Java framework based on usability analysis. Spectrum 5.0 · Successfully delivered scalability enhancements to convert a centralized server product into a system of cooperating servers. · Designed and planned a location and licensing service
Software Architect
Spectrum 4.0 · Improved server efficiency by separating the "live" and "historical" data services, resulting in a 50% increase in performance and deployment flexibility. · Dramatically decreased server downtime by speeding startup time and synchronizing databases between primary and secondary servers, without taking primary server off line. · Gained competitive advantage by adding a script-based dynamic threshold facility to enhance the event and alarm notification system in Spectrum. Spectrum 3.0 · Led 175 engineers from 6 cross-functional organizations in the successful release of Spectrum 3.0, an Enterprise Network Management System, which catapulted the market share from 12% to 26% and won numerous industry awards for cost reduction and productivity enhancement. · Co-designed online database backup, security mechanisms, and a fault tolerant prototype
Principal Software Engineer
