It’s both simple and true.Prioritize 2 things: Results and Relationships.My greatest strength has always been leading teams to hit formerly out-of-reach targets by asking new questions and thinking differently. When the inevitable question of “how are we going to get there?” comes up, using this framework as a starting place has been my secret sauce.It worked when I was an individual contributor and leader of a team. It worked when at small, medium, and large size companies. It worked no matter the macro environment, boom or bust.Starting as a clinician and evolving into a career as a people manager, I found that striking a thoughtful balance of results and relationships best allowed me and my teams to hit ongoing operational targets. Some examples include:- Achieved +10% same-store growth after implementing physician targeting and education strategies.- Maintained over 91% clinical efficiency and 93% staff utilization through growing the local market and training up staff for complex case types. - Consistently beat national quality metrics and KPIs through case audits, targeted feedback, and performance improvement plans.- Accomplished personal growth goals, such as performing all case complex cases in less than a year, obtaining a CNIM, D.ABNM, and MBA, earning invitations to company task force including marketing, removing silos, recruiting talent, and mentoring.But, of course, there’s plenty more to it than a simple starting point.
