I discovered my passion for physical therapy early in high school through my career in alpine ski instruction. This job taught me to appreciate that people are passionate about their movement and find fulfillment in their development as skiers. As I stepped into management and mentorship roles to train other instructors, I received first-hand experience in the joy I felt developing lasting relationships with my students, tracking their progress, and celebrating their success. As I continued on to my undergraduate degree, I sought out similar health career fields where I could use skills I have previously honed to have a greater impact. Physical therapy was the first to demonstrate that with an eye for movement analysis, an understanding of contemporary principles of motor learning, and efficient and thoughtful delivery of feedback and coaching we can change the lives of countless patients who struggle in a healthcare system that typically overlooks and under-emphasizes movement. I am inspired by the philosophy of using movement not just as a symptom to measure, but as a systematic means of clinical diagnosis. As a physical therapist, I hope to create an impact in my patient's lives through active, educational, and individualized treatment.
