Hi! My name is Joseph Kendell. I’m currently studying at Utah State University in both the Interior Architecture & Design and Landscape Architecture majors. I’m a lover of design, whether it be indoors or outdoors, and have a special place in my heart for thematic and immersive design. From a young age, I loved how design could influence how we feel and act as individuals. I started myself out in thematic design early by designing and running a community haunted house every year for 7 years, followed by a free Escape Room experience my senior year of high school. I would work over the summer with interested friends to storyboard, design, and construct the haunted house that would open during October, and it was so rewarding! That experience helped me further solidify my desire to go into design, bringing stories to life like never before. Aside from my Halloween celebrations, I love playing music, and participated in my school’s marching band and winter drumline all through high school, during the competitive season, and even in New York as a part of the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. I also love baking, spending time with family and friends, and traveling.As I study, I hope to gain the critical skills needed to create memorable spaces all around us. I also hope that my experience in both Landscape Architecture and Interior Architecture & Design can help me be a useful tool in the workforce, as I share what I’ve learned and gain invaluable knowledge from others.
