Creativity trumps productivity on any given day. Taking the time to find out the strengths and weaknesses as well as the interests and motivators of your fellow colleagues will in turn bring about the desired productivity that a company or entity may desire. I have had the privilege of being in charge of over 211 soldiers at one given time. To get a group of that size to function as a whole in a timely and accurate fashion requires the ability to recognize leaders, their leadership methods, and to help those same leaders accomplish their responsibilities.My leadership style incorporates allowing people to try and be innovative in a way that helps them. I might need accurate and timely results but this doesn’t mean that I need the process to be the same for everyone. This leadership style allowed for me and my team to be the most timely and accurate team on the most recent Covid Task Force mission in California during the first half of 2021. The most important aspect of our team wast the fact that we also were the happiest and least stressed because we learned how to build each other up. It has been a privilege in my civilian side of life to receive recognition for my efforts to create community through my career at Starbucks. Bringing my personal training career and Starbucks together, I created community hikes that incorporated education, exercise, and a sense of belonging with the regulars of both the gym and Starbucks. I was fortunate enough to network with both Kind and Nekter to sponsor these hikes as well. In whatever it is that I have done, there is one common thread that remains the same, my love for human connection and building people up to become the best versions of themselves.
