Senior Structural EngineerTnp May 2024 - PresentFort Worth, Texas, UsI provide direction for tnp's structural team. We support all other groups with the design of bridges, retaining walls, drainage structures, and other ancillary structures. -
Engineer IiTransystems Feb 2014 - May 2024Kansas City, Mo, UsUS59/IH69 Reconstruction at BNSF Railway, Fort Bend County, TexasMy responsibilities included drafting, creating and checking bridge geometry files (using TXDOT's BGS software), development of a quantity calculation spreadsheet, and preparing various design calculations. These calculations included girder bearing seat elevations, bent & column heights, and required drill shaft lengths. I used PG Super to design the prestressed concrete girders. I used the quantity calculation spreadsheet to estimate the amount of concrete and steel needed for each bridge bent and abutment (9 abutments – one of which was an on/off ramp abutment – and 75 bents).US 377 over Business 114 Phase II, Roanoke, TXI performed the layout, design and drafting of the retaining walls and phased bridge replacement. These retaining walls were a combination of drilled shaft walls, mechanically stabilized earth walls, and cast-in-place concrete cantilevered retaining walls. I created the bridge layout, performed the prestressed concrete girder design using PGSuper, and calculated the bearing seat elevations for the vehicular bridge. I also provided QC for the adjacent UPRR rail bridge design (a steel through-plate girder bridge).BI-40 in Amarillo, TXImprovements to BI-40 necessitated that the existing bridges be replaced. I directed junior engineers in the design calculations of the superstructure, geometry, substructure, and foundation. I also provided QC for the design and drawings. Programs used included PGSuper, BGS, Excel, and CAP18.Load Rating of SCDOT bridges in South CarolinaI was the team leader for the bridges assigned to our office. In addition to rating and providing QA/QC, I instructed junior engineers on how to perform bridge load ratings using BrR (formerly AASHTOWare). In all, my team rated 50 bridges of varying complexity in 9 months using LFR and LRFR methodologies as appropriate. -
Engineer In TrainingFreese And Nichols Sep 2009 - Nov 2013Fort Worth, Texas, UsDesigned, analyzed, and inspected a wide variety of concrete and steel structures including bridges, dams, water and wastewater treatment facilities, buildings, electrical towers, retaining walls, and foundations• Performed bridge designs for municipal roadways as well as a water intake station – tasks included determination of bridge geometry, calculation of work point elevations, design of prestressed girders, and estimation of the materials used to determine probable cost• Inspected and analyzed steel tub girders, prestressed concrete girders, bents, abutments, deck, and connecting elements at multiple sites including DFW’s SkyLink and taxiway bridges• Designed the post-tension ducts for Fort Worth’s Trinity River Vision bridges, as well as the connection of the V-Piers to the superstructure• Inspected the steel members of several dam gates using a hoist and climbing equipment• Developed a time-saving technical process to analyze electrical transmission towers more efficiently -
