We recognize that each site has a unique set of requirements that must be communicated and addressed. We work as our customers' advocate in meetings with regulators to communicate unique site conditions in an effort to reach a mutually beneficial outcome.

SME is a professional consulting engineering firm in the geosciences, materials and the environment. Their team of experienced, responsive problem solvers excel in formulating innovative, practical and sustainable solutions for site, building and infrastructure challenges which add value and extend the life of projects. SME's capabilities serve many markets in the built and natural environment, including Development/ Redevelopment, Transportation, Education, Energy, Healthcare, Commercial, Industrial, Retail, and State/Local Government. I performed due diligence (Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments) and remediation projects and assisted clients/communities in finding funding to help with the costs of brownfield redevelopment. I wrote successful USEPA Brownfield Grants totaling $2.1 million during my time at SME. I completed groundwater models to determine: sustainable yields for newly installed wells, potential mounding issues on spray irrigation fields, and velocity and flow path changes due to geopier installation near permeable reactive barriers.

I worked on the Death Valley Regional Flow System (DVRFS) groundwater model, estimating changes to groundwater levels since the last glacial maximum (LGM). My master’s thesis discussed these varying water levels due to climate change, as well as anthropogenic factors, since the late Pleistocene.

I was a member of the NASA Mini-RF Mission, which used the Lunar Reconnassaince Orbitor to identify ice within lunar craters. My responsibility was to analyze image data to determine the ice content of polar craters.

I conducted research alongside a geochemist, studying the Permian Triassic Extinction Event. I performed several different lab tests on samples, including TOC, OC, and LOI tests.I also taught 3 lab sections of a Geology for Engineers Course.

I worked as a drilling assistant and field technician, developing technical operating skills. We used hollow stem augers on both truck and ATV mounts, reaching maximum depths of more than 150 feet. I was also responsible for concrete and soil compaction testing, including Nuclear Gauge and DCP tests.
