About Joel Ivan Rivera

I began my law enforcement journey at the University of Texas System Police at UT Arlington in 2005. While at UTA, I served as a Field Training Officer, Corporal, Motorcycle Unit Manager, and Patrol Sergeant.I currently serve at UT Medical Branch (UTMB) Police as the Professional Standards Lieutenant, where I researched, procured and deployed our UAS (Drone) Division. Our fleet of two drones are primarily used for Search & Rescue, Situational awareness on tactical operations, and for Post Critical Incident disaster recovery. Specifically surveying the general area after a storm for safe routes and identifying storm damage to critical UTMB infrastructure.
